I have a stainless Ruger 77 in .338 Win. and I'm getting right around 3/4" - 7/8" three shot groups @ 100 yardsusing 225gr Accubonds. Of course it's far from being "out-of-the-box", with a Boyds...

RE: First Rifle for 12 year old...

Wow, I'm kind of surprised the old 30-30 hasn't been mentioned more than it has. I started out deer hunting with a used 30-30 Marlin w/ open sights, in fact I still own that rifle, my 4 year old has...

I believe what Mossy is trying to say is that he prefers the performance of an inline over an old sidelock.....and it is hard to argue against that point. And I also believe he feals the same as I do...

Other than the source of ignition and the addition of a scope what is the real difference between modern inlines and the old relics? I prefer someone out there using a modern gun that he can cleanly...

I've got a Kershaw with a gut hook and love it. It takes some getting used to though, I have nicked myself a few times with it but that's my own dumb fault! :D

1911-style Taurus?

Anybody have any info on this new offering? I saw them talking about it on Guns & Ammo TV, they mention an MSRP of $500.00. If it's a decent pistol that is a steal for a 1911-style pistol. :D

RE: Anybody use the Limbsaver recoil pad?

I put one on my .338 win. and that thing shoots like a baby.....of course the muzzle break helps but there is very little felt recoil. I would compare it to a mild 30-06. I think they are great!
