Rifle Recoil????

RE: Rifle Recoil????
With similar weight guns the recoil would go like this assuming all were loaded with mid-weight bullets (least to most):
.30-06, 7mm Mag, 300 WSM, .300 Win Mag, 3 1/2" 12 gauge turkey load. The .30-06 and 7mm Mag, and the two .300's may be too close to each other to tell the difference, and the 12 gauge turkey load is MUCH more than any of those listed.

RE: Rifle Recoil????
If you’re interested you can check it out for your self and make the comparison. The table for the shotgun doesn’t have the 3-1/2” shells but should give you a good idea on recoil for other shells including the 10 gauge.. Hope this helps out on your question.

Wow, what kinda load you shooting out of that 300? Thats more than my RUM.
My .300 Win Mag loads' recoil is around 33.16 lbs.
72.0 H4350 behind a 165gr bullet. Its actually more like a little over 29.0 lbs. But the one I am testing is 70.0 IMR4350 under a 180gr bullet which will more than likely be closer to 33+

RE: Rifle Recoil????
IMO, a heavier 12 gauge load like the one you mentioned will recoil much harder than any of the rifle calibers listed. I have all the calibers you list except a 300 WSM. Honestly, I don’t feel that much difference in recoil between my .30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, and .300 Win Mag, and they’re similarly-sized rifles. The shotgun kicks harder.

RE: Rifle Recoil????
Just picking up one of those rifles and shooting and you think there is not much a recoil difference. Sit down and shoot the 30/06 10 times then pick up the wsm and you'll think it is beating you to death. I never thought my 7mag was that bad till I sighted in my 25/06 this year THEN picked up my magnum. It's what you get used to. You'll never get "used to" a 3.5 with turkey loads. They kick like a mule.

RE: Rifle Recoil????
Just from shooting the guns I thingk there is a big difrances from shot guns to rifles.
The rifle has a snap kick.
The shot gun is more of a push.
This is just what I think,Is there any point on this?
