I've not heard any negative comments about the flash of the covert II's. They are improved upon over the SG550. The night time pictures are really great especially considering the small compact size....

First off, do not use phantom power with wireless mics. They have their own power supply and phantom power can cause issues. Secondly, make certain to go in your audio menu and turn on the XLR ports....

-30 is asking alot of a camera rated to -4. I've gotten good reports of the cams working well below -4 when taking pictures. Video seems to be where the cams have problems when you get below-4.

The first scoutguard that I bought for personal use was mid jun. It was out until mid october before I changed the batteries. When I changed them I was still at 1/3 battery life...

I don't think there are any other cameras in the price range that compete with the scoutguard for several reasons
-4000+ pics on 1 set of 8 AA batteries
-Consistently < 1.2 second trigger times...
