Talked again with friend a leaving the Shot show and they passed by Leaf River and Stealth and things there looked the same as last year so they did not stop. He stopped back at Recon and that new little cam is called the Viper and is small with external buttons for programming MP rating is suppose to be around 2 MP, no other information except lots about all the new gun stuff displayed.

I watch a lot of forums but have only just started posting. I am enjoying this but let me know if I am overdoing it.

Here is another similar one......... It seems to be the sensing range being wider than the field of view...........

FYI 497 pics last night. Still not one bad pic yet with this cam. I put a fresh set of bats in last night so we'll give it the true test. Also just to let you know I pull this cam every morning so almost all the pics I get are night pics. Maybe one or two just before dark but not many.
Also a note. I have noticed at times this camera tripping before anything is in the field of view. The sensing range is wider than the field of view.
Sometimes resulting in pictures with nothing on but by doing this you have a much better chance of not missing your target as it's passing through.[/align] __________________

FYI, I happened to complete that battery test. 5221 pics in 12 nights with 5 nights logged in double digits below zero. Regular Energizers.
I also look at the sensing zone as a plus not a problem. I hope they leave it right the way it is.

i JUST GOT MY COVERT 2 and also agree the motion sensor is wider then the camera. Can I not just put some black tape over the edges to lessen the side to side view??

You can but I wouldn't. Set the cam to a three pic burst and enjoy. It's really not that big of a deal as some people like to make of it.

Im not saying its a big deal, just passing along what folks out there are relaying. Some dont mind it and some dont like to have blank pics cutting down on the memory especially the ones that leave the cams out there for longer periods of time. Just some info for you to acknowledge that the sensing range is wider than the FOV. Might be something to relay to BMC for future improvements. Thats something im sure everyone would agree on
Just my 2 cents

I've contacted severalcustomers this week trying to see if any of them are being negatively affected by this. So far everyone is perfectly happy and have not noticed it being a problem. Joe, I never received an email from the one that posted on chasin game. I'm going to have time tommorow to run some test and plan to put 2 sg550's and 2 covert II's side by side and check em at differentdistances to see how big of a difference it is. I'll also run some test with blocking the sides of the pir. BMC has been in discussions with DLC's owner concerning the PIR. At this point with no extensive user feedback it's hard to know exactly what everone wants. What is easy to tell so far, everyone I know using this little camera is in love with it, especially it's performance in cold weather and battery life. Any concerns over diminished battery life due to the 2 additional led's have been eased. Everything I'm hearing tells me the camera gets as good if not better battery life than the Covert I.

Here is an in depth testing as you plan to do pretty much completed. This should help you out. Pretty thorough with pictures showing application test.............

Hope this is not the way things will be. Set up the Convert 2 on 23Jan and today the sd card will not eject I pulled it out with a pair of pliers 88 pics but will not slide in and lock. No click noise I don't see anything in the slot but then again I don't see how it clicks to start with.
