RE: Removing The Bolt From A Remington XP-100?

It's been a long time since I took the bolt out of one, but I believe you either open the bolt, hold the trigger to the rear, or open the bolt, push downward on the safety and remove the bolt.

RE: .308 or .270?

I am really curious why you would say take a 308 Win over a 270 Win for longer distances. The 270 is going to be flatter and carry more energy than a 308 with common loadings.

RE: Win. M100, .284 or .308??

The 284 is not just "cooler" than the 308, but you get 280 Rem performance out of a short action cartridge. In other words it actually edges out the 308 performance wise. What's not to like?

The best way to know where you are at a given distance is to shoot at that distance. Tables may get you close but they are no substitute for actually shooting your rifle.

RE: Is the 7mm. Rem. Mag dieing?

Plus the 338 Win Mag with a 225 grain bullet will generate about 9 foot pounds more recoil than the 7mm Rem Mag with a 140 grain bullet at those velocities listed above.

RE: Is the 7mm. Rem. Mag dieing?

Not really surprising since in today's magnumitis craze it takes a 300 RUM to even think about piercing the hide of a deer. They have afterall evolved to have armor plating over the last few years.

RE: Would you buy a 30-06 and a 338 win mag?

RE: The age old debate...270 or .30-06?

I wouldn't feel undergunned with a 270 on a big hog. You can push a 160 grain bullet at 2800 fpsfrom a 270 which has better sectional density than anything out of a 30-06 under 200 grains.

RE: sks accuracy

Most will shoot minute of pie plate but you get a few that are a bit more accurate. The SKS nor the 7.62x39mm were designed to engage targets at 200 yards.
