Preparing For The Hunt – Odor Control

hunting.prep.odor_control1.jpgIt is imperative that a hunter control and conceal his scent. You can lay down human scent in a variety of ways. Fox example, leather boots leak scent when you walk into a stand. If you push a limb out of the way with your hand, you deposit your odor on it. Even trace scent like that can spook a sharp-nosed whitetail.

For starters have good hygiene. Wash your hair and body with unscented soap. Then wash your camouflage in an unscented detergent and store clothes in plastic bags until you’re ready to hunt. Spray clothes with a scent-killer. Use a cover scent specific to your hunting area-apple, solid earth, pine etc.
