You can load the .45 Colt up close to .454 Casull velocity, but you have to have a strong gun like the Ruger or T/C. I also believe you can load 'em up for the newer lever guns.

I boil them for 1 hour then cook in a crockpot for 6-8 hours on low.

Make sure you don't add salt until after the beans are soft. Salt makes the beans even harder and it will take days to cook.
