Mu hunting buddy "collects" those Savage rifle/shotgun combos. He's got about 7 or 8 of them. He has mostly the smaller caliber rifles w/ 12 & 20 guages. They are accurate as all get out. He shot a chuck with his 22hornet/12 guage at about 175 yards.
I've shot a couple of his...and they're solid guns.

I have two savage model 24s. a .222/20ga. and a 30/30 over 20ga.
I think a company called "Valmet" or somthing made some Shotgun over rifle combos. Then there are some very expensive European combos like "Merkel".

There was a recent review of one of he Russian combo guns, made by Baikal, with the rifle available in several worthy chamberings...the tested model in 6.5x57 did quite well, and is avail in .308 as well as I recall.

We have two Savages - 410/22lr and 20ga/22WMR. We also have a Tikka in 12ga/222 Rem. All of them are nice guns. The Drillings are the side by side shotguns with a rifle underneath.

Barnes...I was fortunate enough to shoot a Drilling this past fall. A guy from Canada has one. He used it to follow up wounded bears. It was a 12 ga with a 30-06 underneath. It shot well, but was a heavy sucker. He was delighted that it only cost him three grand canadian. <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>
It was pretty...but I have no use for it!
