RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

It really isn't hard to build a herd up. You just reduce doe tags.

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

Many of us use traditional equipment and many limit, or claim to, their shots to 15 yards. They'd have to work at the test.

I wonder how they would tell if they were really bowhunters?

I...

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

Too busy to take a look at the link? Not a problem, I'm here for you. Note the firearms ID card requirement and the shotgun and ML test requirements. So maybe not to skew a poll but to gain access to...

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

So we agree it's unlikely all or even most bowhunters would respond in any way to this. Might be that they are too busy or they expect the state's bowhunting organization to fight the good fight. So...

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

I'm not sure what you're saying, but perhaps it's that the people involved in a particular sport shouldn't have the only say over the equipment used in that sport.

I wonder if their management...

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

It should ultimately be made by the PBC BOC, not a bunch of politicians going off half cocked. We have a good program with hunters setting hunting regulation. Hunters should be able to look down the...

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

To me, calling the crossbow something bowhunters use is like calling the in-line something flintlock hunters use.

They weapons are too different to be considered similar just because they both...

RE: Crossbows introduced for regular archery season in PA

"Here in PA. our bow hunter #'s has been on a steady decline from 340,000 archers to around 270,000 in 2007."

Pike, that was due to the license jumping from $5.25 to $15.25. It's easy to look...

RE: Grip is Key

Try holding the bow tightly enough so the bow doesn't move on release. Bow arm stays up and steady and bow stays still on release until arrow hits target.

RE: A tutorial on Aiming

Don't mind me, I've suffered from wissassittis my whole life. :)

Some people are very good at instinctive shooting. I shot with a guy that was doing great out to 60 yards on a 900 shoot. But I...

RE: A tutorial on Aiming

Only shooting well out to 50 yards? By all means order some books. I'd never settle for that! Sooner or later you'll have that perfect 85 yard shot and be upset you didn't work harder at it. :)

RE: A tutorial on Aiming

I think it's good to aim the arrow at the spot you want to hit. It does become automatic after a while. For all aiming methods you should be a statue until the arrow hits the target.

RE: Help!!!! I have terrible aim!!!!

Buy a used Bear Grizzly at 45# for no more than $100.00. Aim the arrow and keep your bow arm up until the arrow hits the target.

RE: New Hunter II

Be nice to see some pic's.

What is the grip like? Is it wide or narrow. High wrist? Thumb groove?

Does the Hunter or Hunter II have the highest brace height?

RE: Black widow recurve???

RE: recurve?

I place two nails about 3 feet apart and hang the bow by the string on them. I don't unstring except to change sting or if the bow will be in a hot car.

LB, I'm not trying to give you any guff, juts wondering. My women aren't that strong.

Your 55# bow would probably be 43# at her draw lenght.

RE: Thanks all !

Good luck! Make sure you learn to tell if the spine is right for your bow with the arrows. If they are wrong, you'll not get good flight or then accuracy.

Me either. I have to go through stages to buy something that large and one is studying it on a web site. He has to have a friend that could help him with setting one up.

RE: RECURVE OR LONGBOW?

I agree hot tap water is the best way to take a twist out. The finish should not allow it to absorb water. Strung or unstrung is the question. :)

RE: RECURVE OR LONGBOW?

I get more hand shock with the long bows I have shot. And their light weight makes holding your form on release a little harder.

The SA has the smaller sight window and is the one I like best.

He doesn't advertise the $850 bows.

RE: Used Black Widow or a Hunter II?

You can get that Habu for a little over $1000.00.

I've never shot the Hunter, but have a BW SA I really like. If I do it right, it will put the arrows in that target. Very solid and predictable....
