For the last 5 years I've shot most of my deer with a Rem. 7600 in 35 Whelen, 225 gr. Sierra Game kings. And a few with my Rem. 700 Mountain Rifle in 280 with 160 gr. Speer Mag-Tips.

Are you using the same scope that was on the rifle when the stock broke ? If it is I'd try another scope. A 20 ga. brush works pretty good for removing plastic from the barrel.

28" seems to be pretty standard barrel length for inlines. What, if any performance would be lost with a 24 or 26" barrel ? Would a max charge of powder be completely burned in a 24" tube ?

I use the Traditions ram rod. I haven't checked but I don't think it will deform the tip of the SW. I know they shoot just fine and that plastic tip is pretty hard.
