RE: Northern birds are in!!!

Sorry to hear about you looking at duck butts, but not really. We start the 20th and the numbers are increasing every day. They should arrive here with a nice 65F to contend with for several more...

RE: duck hunting question

About 4 years ago they would line up and land with them here. Gradually got worse the last few years. They still worked for flight birds last year if the sun is shining and you shut them off after...

RE: 20 GA for ducks?

Take em with the 20. A friend on here two openers ago was wacking them with his 28. No joke, for I was sitting about 3 ft away from him when he was doing it. Hunting the opener with and old friend...

RE: got a few questions on settin up decoys?

The ducks will mingle among the geese in a field, but they will never get theirselves too far away from another duck by theirselves. And they alway seem to stay near the outside edges of the geese...

RE: DIFFERENT DECOYS

Go out and watch the real ducks! They do intermingle but stay in little clusters of their own type. Keep the same birds together in little 4-6 bird groups. I like to use a few small groups of pintail...

After hunting for several years, learn to use the other hunters as decoys. Their mistakes are your success! Observe and learn the behavior of the birds. It comes in very handy. I haven' t even blown...

RE: For best results use...............

If you can see their eyes, you don' t need 3.5 inches of solid shoulder pounding steele. A friend in the boat shot some with a 28 last year on opening day. Granted he took first shot and we shot...

RE: newbie needs help

Best bet is to give up where you are at and get where the birds want to be. If not possible to decoy them, you are basically dove hunting. But you have got to pattern your chokes and get your timing...

I only shoot and eat teal, mallards, and woodies. There are many ways to cook them that will make you never go back to chicken again. Isn' t there a recipe thread on this forum? First time back...

RE: How Far To Shoot on a Goose

Back when we could shoot lead, that was an easy shot especially when on top a barn. But realistically, you are not going to kill them unless you hit them in the head. Try decoying them.
