Best bet is to give up where you are at and get where the birds want to be. If not possible to decoy them, you are basically dove hunting. But you have got to pattern your chokes and get your timing...

Go with some good ammo. Forget the steele and you can whack them. With a six duck limit, you shouldn't have to shoot very much anyhow if you wait till you can see their eyes. The geese will fold also...

If you want a very tight steele pattern, the tube you buy will extend beyond the barrel. There are many aftermarket varieties that work great. They are not abusive on your barrel if it is designed...

Buy tubes meant for steele. I have a super full steele that is comepletely inefective for shooting over decoys but simply outstanding on 50 yard geese. Can stroke the ducks even further if I wanted....

Where I hunt, they only respond to a short feeder unless they are flight ducks. If you hunt where they get up in the morning, they have most likely fed all night and are (stretching their wings)....
