RE: duck hunting question
Kinda depends..........IF you live somewhat South, the ducks will have seen a lot of spinners on their migration and probably have wised up to them. The more spiners the ducks have seen, the more likely the spinner will flare them.

RE: duck hunting question
About 4 years ago they would line up and land with them here. Gradually got worse the last few years. They still worked for flight birds last year if the sun is shining and you shut them off after the birds are interested. Don' t even own any now. Not even worth the trouble this far south anylonger. They will phase out and come back in about 10 years from now.

I love um, I look for someone who has one in thier setup and get to where the flaired birds will come right over me. I think the concept is sound, but they need a remote on/off switch and just hit it a little bit.

RE: duck hunting question
I' ve found that they work better in low light conditions even if they aren' t working in the bright conditions. We usually take them out of the spread after it is good and light. We use a couple of mallard machines and jerk ducks to keep the spread moving and they seem to work ok.

From what I' ve seen, jerk cords rigged to a gang decoy rig seem to be the way to go in VA. You can yank a few times to get movement/ripples, then let your calls do the rest once they see the dekes. Another thing that helps if you' re hunting on a calm day is a decoy that makes ripples. Put it in the center of your spread and you' re good to go.
