Deer proof (8'+ high) fence will be more effective and more expensive, but I have used the gallagher style electric fences with great results. Also, the electric is much quicker to set up.

Actually the saying is the other way around. Dry years will scare you. Wet years will break you. Dry years usually mean a slightly reduced yield, but not a total loss like wet years can be.

It would be good for bow season, but the first frost would kill it. The difference is that if they were planted earlier you could have had the beans for fall and winter after the foliage dropped.

Never used one, but they look like they use solid parts. Good engines, good pumps, and the trailers are even nicer looking. Also all the parts look common, so you could work on it if you had to.

Look into some adding chicory in with your clover. It is a big help in the summer with clover in the south. Doesnt take much, 2lb per acre is plenty in a mix with a tough white clover.

Anything over 1/3 salt will brick up in a minute if you get it wet and let it dry out. Molasses will help too.

Granular is the best way to go IMO. It mixes with the soil much better.
