Default mineral licks

what should i be using to establish a good quality mineral lick? how do you pick a good site for them and how long do you expect the deer to continue to use them?

I made this entire page for my particular mineral supplement, but most of the concepts are universal far as mineral sites go. It tells you how to choose an effective location, the right timing, and why each particular mineral is important. Some of the micronutrients play a larger role in overall herd health than the calcium and phosphorus that are always the primary focus for antler growth.

Do not buy anything that does not plainly state the analysis. Most are no more than salt mixes, and many more are simple homemade dical mixes that are only around 5% Ca and P with no other beneficial ingredients. And of course when you decide you want the best...

i normally put my licks around stumps or on stumps so the minerals will soak in to the stump and the deer will continue to visit after minerals are long gone.
Another trick is to take and bury about have of your minerals so that it will soak in the ground. Remeber there are diffrent ways to get minerals to deer, blocks, pellets and feed
