Default 2 acre wood lot

I just recently bought 2 acres inside a huge state forest and about 1 half a acre is cleared... I was thinking about just planting some persimmon trees and I was wondering if that was a good idea or would there be something better to plant that is low maint and low cost... I figure the trees would be pretty much self sufficient...

Yeah, also look into crab apples and maybe a few pears to spread it out a little bit. The thing about persimmons is only half of them (females) fruit, and the ones that do will not produce tons of fruit.

I agree with the post above. Instead of taking the chance I would plant crab apples and IMO are better then persimmons anyway.

Just ordered two dolgo crab apple trees... I'm hoping they will pollinate each other...
