TerryM, Have you shoot that load over a chronograph yet? I'm shooting 75.0 grains of R22 using 160 gr Accubonds in my 7mm STW. This load acheives around 3300 FPS and 1" groups @ 100 yards....

Another thing I do to prevent rust is to oil all the guns down and use Birchwood Casey rust preventive spray about every other month or so. Especially in early spring.

Some Rugers respond well to forend pressure. I have seen rugers with pieces of plastic under the barrel at the forend to do this. It helped tighten the groups and no more stringing shots.

With heavier bullets (180 gr and up) and at the distance you mentioned 200 yards and under the differances tend to shrink, still the .30-06 IMHO has the edge with the heavyweights.

If you plan to to use 165-168 gr (or 150 gr) and keep shots to say a max of 300 yards. Then a .308 win is near perfect. If you plan on shooting 180 gr (or 200 gr) than I would go with the .30-06.
