Well I don't think I can outrun the guide, being he has probably grown up in the mountains.....Hopefully they will pair me up with another flatlander who is slower than me..........could be the last one to their horse gets to take on the bear[:'(][]

41 mag or bigger if in grizz country,the 44 spc is not a bear stopped IMHO.
If you are on a guided hunt I would not worry tomuch about a camp gun,or a back-up.Most camps have electric fence around them to deter the bears.
