RE: How high are your standards?

I also have the lower standards of a typical public woods hunter. I will try to hold out for 2.5, 8 or better, about to the ears. My goal is to kill at least one doe every year as well.

RE: Are Climbing Stands too Noisy?

I have seen deer less than five minutes after climbing a tree with my summit. I have also climbed down a tree while watching deer 100 yards across a field. Once you get good at using them climbers...

RE: Whisker Biscuit is LOUD!!

Mine is not loud. I think it depends on the arrow. I would suggest to anyone thinking about buying one to try it first.

thoughts on the wildview

I had planned on getting a cuddeback capture this year, but with funds being low and after coming across the wildview on sale I decided to give it a try. I haven't set it out yet, but I messed around...

When do the acorns fall?

Could anyone tell me when acorns typically start to drop? I'm curious about southern wisconsin, also how long of a window do you have between when the deer start eating them 'til they're gone?

RE: cutovers

I assume a cutover means the same thing as a clearcut. I hunt county and federal land exclusively that has been getting cut like crazy. Supposedly these can be looked at as a crop field because deer...

RE: Are you FOR or AGAINST Whisker Biscuits?

RE: Where would you hunt? and Why?

I don't know how often these roads are traveled/walked and a distance key would help, but you seem to have a N/S bottleneck just south of the 2100ft ridge. The road crosses it running E/W.

RE: Do any of you guys have a new stand picked that you CANT WAIT to hunt?

RE: Bait Piles,Bow Kills, And Video. I say NO

RE: bow hunting wisconsin

I agree with the rattling and grunting tactic. If you believe in moon phases it should be an early rut this year, so they should be chasing pretty hard at that time, especially if the weather's right.

RE: Public Land

The most important tool in a public land hunter's arsenal is a climbing treestand imo. Other's are a gps, compass, and comfortable boots to get you away from the crowds.
