also tape a shipping label to the gun or the bubble wrap covering it . saved my butt one time when the card board box was mostly destroyed.

The 300 was built around the 180. I have shot deer with 180 grn Sierra fmjbt and didnt think it did anymore damage than a 30-06 with
with 150 grn.
Never hurt to try something lighter

Yes 6 inches would be a good group at 500yrds unless you have one of those $5000 gun's. If I remember correctly a 30-06 at 400 yards drops like 48 inches. many varibles at that range

wonder if the nickle platting could be making the neck not resize properly. is the thickness of a plated case thicker than just a standered one.
Just grasping for straws at this point.

for IMR 4831 and not the max.
