What I said concerning making low quality runs came from a person who worked for Marlin not Remington, but it wouldn't surprize me at all if Remington did the same thing. Also they(Marlin) did this on specific models and for a specific quantity. You may not even have worked there when this type of order was filled. Ask your relatives if they ever knew about a bunch of the better/faster workers being asked to work on a specific production/assembly line to fill an order for Wal-Mart. Why don't some of you guys look at the city/stae I live in. I'm only a 30min. drive from Wal-Mart's Corporate office in Bentonville Ark., I hear this stuff from people that have done bussiness in there. Rationalize away my statments all you want but these gun companies are doing this.` And how have I been led astray I know crappy workmanship when I see it!

dang big ed do you work for wal mart? ha ha remington adl synthetics were there cheap line of guns. now they tried to get cheaper with the 710. well for the person thats wants CHEAP thats fine. but when i buy a $ 700 rifle i dont want cheap paint on my alloy floorplate! i dont need a clinton key on my bolt! i still like remington style ,700's, they fit me well. i get to see alot of guns for i work at my friends pawn shop. and buddy we move some guns.we sold several 700's last fall , some never payed much attention to the clinton key some were not happy. i suspect that we wont sell as many next year. ruger seems to be doing better . we stock rugers , the main reason is better quality at a lower cost. even remington shotguns have gone down. people are wanting brownings, benilli, beretta and winchesters. we have several 870's that have been there for 2 years. i think remingtons trying to cut corners to pay for all the b/s lawsuits that have been filed. maybe they will listen to there life blood US and get back to where they used to be.

Thanks otis and soarkrebel for helping out. Before I sign off this topic for good, if you disagree with me please read all my posts on this topic I'm tired of repeating myself.
Also here's a few makes and models whose reputations I think were hurt by trying to deal with Wal-Mart over the years.
1.Colt-All their revolvers
2.Remington-All their semi-auto .22 rifles
3.Marlin-.22's semi-auto rifles and lever
action centerfire's
4.Winchester-pump shotguns
5.Mossberg-pump shotguns

Why is Marlin America's favorite rifle maker?
Because they sell inferior products to Wal-Mart on purpose?

Come on!

With all the BS that came out of the Clinton regime, do you actually think these companies would produce second rate products while being under a microscope from anti-gunners and the Clinton groupies? These groups were and still are looking for any reason to go after the gun makers. They are not going to be dumb enough to give them an opening.

I need to apologize about Marlin their quality has come back up in the last 5 years. I'm NOT saying they do this ALL the time with ALL their models. But they DID do this in the past. Marlin is "Americas Favorite Rifle Maker" because they've been selling guns for 132 years.
As far as giving the anti's some material for further whining, I've only seen one gun that was "un-safe", a short-chambred Rem 700 in 7mm MAG. Most of the other problems are ones concerning fit and finish of parts, jamming problems, poor blueing, dented/cracked stocks etc.,.
For the most part these are not harmful to the gun industry, just darned annoying to us serious shooters.
Weatherby??? Oh! No! Not them too!!!!
Well this is my last statment on this one, believe what ya'll wants to.

Would this topic relate to the cheaper line of Weatherby's sold at Wally World? I know for a fact that those are not of the same Weatherby quality as the real ones. This is very interesting. One may not have anything to do with the other.

I live in "Remington Country" where 80 - 90% of long guns sold are Remingtons. Many of the dealers around here, big and small, will tell you, and often show you examples on the shelf of how Remington quality has gone down hill.

My next one will probably be a Savage RNZ just because of that.
