RE: does doe urine(scent) really work?

Works great, if there's a buck in the area, it draws them in. Tink's 69 is a classic, everything by Code Blue is good, too.

RE: What's everyones biggest crappie ever..

I'm spoiled, I fish a "private" lake filled with monster crappie, the typical size is between 14 and 18 inches, if you find one, you've actually found about 40 of them. Great genetics in that lake,...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

kicks more than a .30-30, less than a .270. The powder charge is the same as a .270, but the .270 is... .270 of an inch and the .25-06 is .257 of an inch. Since the powder charge is pushing less lead...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

Buckshot is about the same powder charge, atleast for me it is. My first rifle was a .30-30, and the kick on that is no problem, though when I was your age I was 6 tall and weighed 220 pounds. [8D]...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

It depends on how much you weigh and how strong you are, if you weigh ~150 lb. it won't be too bad. If you've ever shot a 12 gauge with express rounds, all you need to know is it's not nearly as bad...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

Sorry about the late response, I was afk. The recoil isn't too bad, it's about the same as a .270 or a .30-06. I usually don't even notice it. Don't worry, it's not going rattle you or knock you out...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

use an 80-grain bullet and you can hunt coyote/fox, I suppose you could use it for Woodchuck if you really want to. And if you want to work on your accuracy, you can "dispatch" squirrels and prairie...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

I suggest a Ruger M77 or an S&W i-Bolt, the M77 has the 24" barrel that the .25-06 loves, and the i-Bolt has a 23" barrel, which isn't quite as good, but it beats a 22" barrel.

RE: Gay Buck

Sir, I take offense to that, deer are beautiful, majestic creatures. How could they be related to that guy? :D

RE: Buck or Doe what would you shoot?

I'd take a doe over a buck almost any day, unless the rack was really something immense. Though to be honest, I don't know why I'd take the big buck for his antlers. I think does taste alot less like...

RE: Whats the best way to cook the tenderloins?

Tenderloins are great without marinades, too, it's up to personal preference. Just refrain from throwing them in a bag with a bottle of italian dressing overnight. Sometimes I slice them into 1/4"...

RE: is a 25-06 good for hunting deer?

The .25-06 is quite a round, sight it in at 200 yards if you can, it only drops around 3 inches at that distance. I prefer my .270 when I'm in the woods, but the .25-06 is the Hammer of Thor on deer...

RE: Venison Burgers

I advise cutting the venison with about 15% of beef fat as Robert L E suggested. If you're looking for a recipe, as in things to add to it, dice up some mushrooms, garlic and parsley, toss that in...

RE: Do real hunters use Scent Lok?

It helps, but it won't make you "scent-free". If you read the advertisements, you can see that they're carefully worded to prevent lawsuit. If used properly, with other scent-removing products, it...

RE: How long do you cure you game?

I shot a big buck on opening day of rifle season, which is rare because I don't like the way a large buck tastes in peak rut... So I hung him in my garage for 2 weeks with the skin on, then 2 days...

RE: Whats the best way to cook the tenderloins?

Make a marinade with a cup of Black Coffee, a cup of tomato sauce and a bunch of garlic, maybe add some liquid smoke. Don't marinade it "american" style and leave it in a bag over night so the only...

RE: Eating road kill! *GASP*

You'll know if it's bad as soon as you cut it open, the meat will be dark red and feel like gelatin, it may smell foul as well.

RE: Eating road kill! *GASP*

This probably isn't the best way to make a first impression on these forums, but I stop every time I find roadkill to see if it's fresh and where it was hit. Nine times out of ten I end up just...
