Do real hunters use Scent Lok?

It helps, but it won't make you "scent-free". If you read the advertisements, you can see that they're carefully worded to prevent lawsuit. If used properly, with other scent-removing products, it will dramatically reduce your scent. Also, throwing your Scent Lok in the dryer for a little while won't REALLY "reactivate" the carbon layer. If you really want to reactivate the carbon in your Scent Lok, I advise a trip to the sun... To be honest, if I could afford Scent Lok, I'd use it. It definitely helps, but not quite as much as they'd like you to think.

I have some scent blocker that I wear, one suit to be exact. I know what alot of people say about the carbon suits how they dont work, but really that hasnt been my experience with it. I have had deer come directly down wind from me and have never smelt me. I do take a shower in unscented soap and use scent killer products. There are some drawbacks to it, one is that you sweat in it something terrible at least i do. I never put mine on untill I get to my stand because of that and the second is its not warm. My suit provides very little insulation in the winter. There have been on occasion that deer have winded me but not very often. I still try to use the wind as my advantage, but sometimes deer come from out of know where it seems like. I still use mine often and would like to buy another one.

A good hunter can kill deer with or without scentlock, and most other "optional" equipment.A good hunter needs only a gun or bow and a few days in good deer country.

No, not at all. Folks should use whatever they want. It is fun to try new things.
But if you are a good hunter, have good deer country to hunt, and several dayshunting time, it should not be a problem toget a deer on the ground. Obviously there are no guarantees in hunting.
The gist of what i am saying is that the hunting industry promotes their products to make money. It is in their interest to convince people that their products are useful, if not essential. I feel many hunters get too caught up in the marketing, and too distracted by employing the various products.

Going scent free and using cover scent is all I ever use and seems to work out well with me. I feel no need to dump a bunch of money on something that I am not convinced works.

i don't use it because of the price. family and friends swear by it. i've for years and learned from my uncles. Who in my opinion are "real" hunters. I was taught how to use cover sents, the wind and surrounding foliage and "odors". it has worked for me. when i go into the woods i stink like the rear end of dirty animal..lol...This year durring 2nd shoot gun season the I was sitting against a tree with some tall grass around me. I had a doe come within 10 yards of me with the wind blowing 10-15 right at her. imho you don't need to spend the money.... as long as you don't mind the "stink"....

I use it and on many occasions I have had deer "dead down wind" without a single clue I was there.
It really isn't just about scent-lok clothing itself. It is a whole system, (soaps/deodorant/sprays and wipes) andhunting the wind whenever possible.
