RE: new pup and my training plan

Legacy357, Don't get discouraged if your dog has strayed off course a bit. I found that every couple months my pup seemed to be disinterested in training for a little while. As soon as I was starting...

RE: am i doing the right thing

PA, I was very nervous when my pup went in to get snipped. When I picked him up the next day we had to do everything possible to keep him settled down. It was like nothing ever happened. I had to...

RE: invisible fences- do they work

I agree with Jonesy about using an eCollar to teach them the boundaries. I needed to train my pup to stay in the yard at my in-laws. He is usually over at their house at least once a week, and needs...

I used Nutro Natural choice Large Breed Puppy for my EP. I started off with feeding him 1 cup three times a day. I increased it after a couple months to 2 cups 2 times a day. He is turning 1 y/o on...

RE: Pup sounds funny...

Try putting some plywood through the wire to make the pup's area smaller. Your pup should only need enough room to stand up and turn around freely. If you give too much space they have enough room to...

RE: Can I still teach my dog new things?

Guss,
Be careful with the training methods that you use on your dog, or you may end up with one confused dog. Most training techniques are based on training a young dog or pup. Since your dig is...

RE: 10 wk old Pointer for adoption

Waterfowler, congrats on the new GSP! I think it is a great thing to adopt a pup. I think your older dog will settle down as time goes on. He is just trying to let the new pup know who is going to be...

RE: lets see a pic of your hunting Buddy!

Sean,
You can use "Paint" in windows. You open the photo, slick "Image", then select "Stretch/Skew". You then reduce the overall image percentage. If you are using a 5 megapixel camera, then you...

Mite,
My pointer loves going after the leaves blowing. He does crouch down similar to what I saw on yours, but he will move quickly at the leaves. As he has gotten older (he is currently 9 months)...

RE: how many pheasants do you kill in a season?

Pork, there is nothing wrong with a good game farm. What part of Wisconsin are you hunting? Not too many wild birds left in our region. Sad :(

RE: how many pheasants do you kill in a season?

I only get about 6-10 wild birds a year here in Northern Illinois. I dont have that many hook-ups on private land, and the area that I hunt doesnt have the best cover.

RE: Size of crate for a lab?

I suggest an XXL wire crate. You should never need to buy one again. One that is wire is easy to slide some pieces of plywood through to block off the dog. My pointer has a XL and it fits him...
