I'd go with the ruger. I have a ruger M77 30-06 right handed bolt action, but i'm sure it would be just as good in the left handed model.

I have taken quite a few phesants with my 20ga. Remmington 870 Wingmaster with a full choke barrel, with either 7.5 or 6 shot. Never failed me yet.

I can't help you on the rifle reloading becuase i don't know the first hand thing about it. But for the 12ga. reloading, look on ebay for a "Mec 600 jr" its has all the stations you need on one press...

Yes its POSSIBLE to kill a yote with a .22 at that range with a REAL good aim. For coyotes i use a Winchester .270

I use a Remmington 870 Wingmaster with a full choke barrel and use 7.5 shot, but with your two options i think either would work just fine, i'd flip a coin for the choke and go with 7.5 shot.
