Today I went to my local sporting goods store becuase I was that they had 20gauge shells for 2.99 so i got 5 boxes. After shooting a few at blue rock, i noticed that about about every other empty case i ejected would be split all the way from the top to the brass! Why does this happen? Is it just the cheap ammo i got?

Thats what i figured but i'm only 14 so i wasn't for sure if that was it or now so i figured i'd come to the experts to make sure. Thanks

The brand was Sellier & Bellot....i had never heard of them. And i was shooting them out of my Remmington 870 Wingmaster, pump.

I thought Sellier and Bellot was good stuff.
I've never owned any and I won't, at least until you guys get this figured out for me.

All I know about sellier and bellot is that they are made in the Czech Republic. But I have heard that some shooters in the 2000 olympics used them and got good scores. I dont know maybe you got a bad batch I thought they had a good reputation. Never used them myself but the discount catalogs are full of them.

Thanks Natty, i love my shotgun. Anyway, i went out again today and shot some trap, and hit 9 out of 10 and yesterday shot a rabbit with these shells, so i know that they shoot well but still about every other one was cracked all the way down the side.
