About 1/2 dozen a year. Carbon arrows hold up better but they are alot more expensive. It probably comes out to about the same price.

Take a look at the difference in Balistics between a 45-70 and a 30-378.
At 50 yrds they will both blast through a deer, at 150 yards the 45-70 starts to drop much more than the 30-378. At 400yards...
