RE: Hog Huntin' Missouri ???

I don't know about LOZ, but I know Truman has them. And there's more of them than most people realize. I was planning a gathering for hogs and Truman came up. The ranger over that area said they are...

RE: What rifle for squirrl hunting

I have that pistol in a 6" barrel. That's one of the most fun pistols I've ever shot.

Out of curiosity, how'd you get the scope mounted on it? I've been thinking about doing that myself... that...

RE: Goin varmint huntin

From what I've heard, snapper meat is excellent when fried and, unlike birds that have 2 kinds of meat (white and dark), turtles have 8 kinds of meat. If anybody's interested in a step-by-step guide...

RE: .308 bullets for predators & varmints

Wolf, I've never hunted cougar before, but I'm sure they're probably pretty tough. With that in mind, would you think that a Nosler partitioned slug would do a better job? Or a slug that's been...

RE: .308 bullets for predators & varmints

All of those will work, but if you're going for the fur, you'd better shoot them all in the head. All of those slug will leave a nasty hole in the other side. If just to bring the population into...

If the land is privately owned and not stocked with fish by the local goverment, then you can do whatever you want with the fish. If the pond is overstocked and the fish are stunted, the ONLY 2 ways...

RE: .22 Long Rifle Vs. Long

That's where the term oxymoron comes into play. You CANNOT use the word government and intelligence, or any word similar to it without confusing everybody.

RE: .22 Long Rifle Vs. Long

I know they're not glamorous, but I picked up a cheapo chinese air rifle from a feed store for $20. It shoots right around 900f/s.

BTW - I recently decided to stop using my pellet rifle and...

RE: .22 Long Rifle Vs. Long

Yes, the .22 CB's will probably be the way to go for pest control. They still have terminal velocity but are about as quiet as a bb gun.

Well, whatdayaknow! My bad. I've never actually shot the CB Longs. I just went to my cartridge information web site and that's what they had down. Wonder how they could get that wrong.

Thanks, Wolf, for the info again. As far as I'm concerned, coyotes are just less advanced wolves. One of these days, they'll figure out what the wolf has and then the sh!t will hit the fan.

RE: 6.5 X 55 for coyotes...What Bullet?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a 6.5x55 just a .308? If so, it wouldn't really matter what size round you used, just so long as it hit. Personally, I'd stick with the .243.

RE: need help.... fast!

It also depends on if you're planning on keeping the hide. If so, none of them will work too well, causing too much damage to be of any use. If not, then I'd go with the .270 and your ballistic tips....

RE: Here are my options

In that case, go with the shotgun at close ranges, otherwise you could quite likely end up with some wounded, mad, and very mean yotes to deal with.

RE: Here are my options

Did they say only a .22lr or did they say nothing bigger than a .22 caliber bullet. BIG difference there. If they said .22lr, then get yourself a .17HM2 and you'll drop yotes a lot easier.
