RE: Strange bird

I once came face to face with a mostly white gobbler who snuck up on me while I was doing some cut n running. Never got a shot off though. He had the usual black striping on his wing feathers and...

Ohhhhhh, you didn' t REALLY want to shoot anyway, did ya? LOL.:D

Last time I worked a 25#+ bird, he got spooked by mushroom hunters. I feel for ya, buddy. :)

RE: Which gun?

I don' t know about the laws in your state, GN, but in Iowa, it' s illegal to fire at game from your vehical even during the leagal seasons. I' m sure it WOULD have been easy enough for you to slip...

RE: Easiet and loudest owl locator call

I like my Knight & Hale Shock Gobble call. I also like the Palmers. I have a Primos Power Owl...It' s loud, just don' t care for it for some reason. LOL.

RE: favorite locator...

I like crow calls, but PBB has a good point. That' s why I carry a few locators with me. Owl, crow, coyote, hawk, and sometimes I' ll cut real hard on a box call or tube call.

RE: Which gun?

I think it' s a matter of individual choice. If you feel comfortable and confident enough in using a rifle for turkey hunting where it is legal, then go for it. If you want the bird in close and...

RE: Where' d they go?

I normally hunt a puplic area that is over 800 acres, and there is a pretty good turkey population there. Thing is, there is adjoining private property that holds birds or shares the same birds as...

RE: Scratch Boxes

I like them as a " secret weapon" . They have a different sound, I think, and besides, I got my first bird with one, so I' m biased. :)

RE: when does everybody start?

If I can still get a 2nd season tag (Iowa) I' ll go April 18-22 and again 4th season April 30-May 18. Otherwise I' ll just settle for two tags during 4th season. Got some things pending, that' s...

RE: an important ? for my fellow hunters

Lots of good info out there to support hunting. I' d start with your own state' s DNR to hit a little closer at home, so to speak. Find out how much money from hunters (and fishermen) in your state...

RE: Renzo' s decoys?

I have yet to use the decoy expanders in the woods, but it WOULD kinda suck to lose the top screw. Maybe some Lok-Tite will take care of that. ;)
