Since you threw coyotes in there I would go with a .223.
Ammo is not that expensive and your sure to enjoy the range and accuracy you can get with that caliber. Happy Hunting!

If your going for larger animals like 10+ pounds then go for the 17 HMR or...

Savage Edge?

Has anyone shot or heard anything about the savage edge in .223?
It seems like a good budget bolt action rifle($300).
I would be using it for coyotes and target practice.

I use my Ruger 10/22 For just about all small game and plan on using it on coyotes( for trapping). But for calling coyotes these are not the right bullets(like everyone said above)
I shoot 32 grain...
