I hunted some public land once , I will never do that again if I dont have to. There were gunshots going off everywhere, I felt like I was in the middle of a war. The funny thing about it was there...

RE: Good loads for 300 RUM

Bigcountry, the only reason I ask about the 110gr is I like shooting coyotes and hornady list the load in their reloading book, I dont think it would be that great, but if you could get it to group...

RE: Loading with a long throat?

If you load the bullet to the lands back off your powder because your pressure will increase a great deal. You can use less powder and get same velocity. My 2 cents

RE: WILL A 22.250 WORK FOR HOGS?

Shot a 125 -150lb hog this sat. with a 22-250 at 300+ yards, ran about 15 yards and that was it! As long as you do not hit big bone you are fine with the 22-250. My 2 cents

RE: CALIBER QUANDRY......HELP!

You do not have to have a great big gun to kill a great big hog I have seen 200+lb hogs quickly taken down with a trusty old 22-250. As others have said shot placement is key.

RE: newbie! help !!

The 223 is going to be easy on the hides, but if your not hunting for hides, shoot them with the .280 fully loaded and see what happens! Dont shoot the cats with it though, they are worth too much...

Chadsqna, I also want to make a comment on the fact that you said "you can get alonger barrel than with the 223", If you build rifles you shoud know that you can get just about any lenght and rate of...

RE: A good yote gun?

chadsqnq the 22-250 does not have a longer range than the 220swift.. The 220swift is a faster round than the 22-250 and has more case capacity. The 223, 222, 220, 22-250 are all great coyote guns....

My wife just got a new yorkie puppy that poops all over the house so I might be able to tell you if I can get it out of the house, and I might just let the coyote win!

RE: What caliber?

Of course you do not have to load to case capacity but then whats the point in the 220 if you are loading down to 22-250 velocities

RE: What caliber?

The 220 swift is great coyote round but if you do not reload ammo is not cheap, even if you reload powder capacity is higher than 22-250 with not much more speed, and shorter barrel life. Thats why I...

InOK you had better pick a calm day to go dog hunting with a 204, wind plays such a factor!
