I've never seen anybody say that it can't EVER happen, just that it's not an ideal thing to try.

I just looked back at the post when you asked if a 22 would kill a coyote.I did'nt really see anybody say that it would'nt kill a coyote, most were justsaying theirs more risk using a 22 on a coyote and explainingthe importance of shot placement with one.You might look back at your post,I don't think anybody is liying to you.

I just saw a real cool clip of Tim Wells on Relentless Pursuit busting a 'yote with some tracer ammo. Don't know what kind, but I figure it was .22mag Awesome effect.

you can't base anything on one instance, shoot 100 and see how many you recover.

You can kill one with a rock if you are good enough. Just more ethical/efficient to shoot with a higher caliber.

Lots of old timers, farmers, and ranchers used to shoot coyotes with a 22. They didn't want to waste any hard earned money on more expensive ammo, and they didn't care if they ran off to die, in fact they would rather they ran off so they didn't have to deal with the carcass. Not the most ethical, but during a different time it seemed to serve the purpose of predator control.

I'm pretty confident that 100 out of 100 coyotes hit well at 35 yards with a .22 will be dead coyotes. Apoorly hit coyote is gonna give you a good chase whether it is a .22 long rifle or 22-250. I'd still rather have the 22-250 overall, though.[8D]
