Thanks all, I took everyones advice and flipped a coin and it landed on it's edge and just stood there, i'm still waiting for it to fall one way or the other, maybe thatmeans I should buy one of each.I appreciateeveryones input, i'ts been alot of help. This is a great site.
Whenever you do decide... here are your next 3 threads:

1) What .308/.270 rifle do I buy?
2) What scope do I put on the ______ .270/.308 rifle I just bought?
3) What bases/rings should I get for the _____ scope I just bought for the ______ rifle I just bought in .270/.308?

There's no need to ask about what sling to get. Well, I'll just say I haven't yet seen such a thread!

For "long" range,I zero for 300at 100 it'll be 3" high,4" at 200,-8 at 400.
That's a pefect method for zeroing a .270!

Considering other rifles I owned ( past & present ) It will be the weatherby vanguard, stainless, synthetic, topped off with a zeiss conquest 3-9x40 with leupold mounts and rings. The rifle really feels good, if you know what I mean. Not sure about the sling, I might just use a rope.

I'm happy. I purchased a weatherby mark V stainless, synthetic 270 win. and mounted a zeiss 3.5-10 x 44 on it. Thanks everyone for your help.

Great choice. Weatherby makes a fine rifle and I don't think you'll be disappointed in the Zeiss scope
