Opinions on a new rifle
Wondering what folks think. I'm planning on buying a Sako 75 Hunter in 300 Win Mag and mounting a Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44 scope. I'm planning on getting the rifle with open sites and the option of the oil finished stock instead of the varnished.
Questions:
1. Is this an appropriate powered scope for this rifle?
2. Will the open sites interfere with scope mounting?
3. Any thoughts on oil finished stocks versus varnished?

#1... absolutely
#2... no they shouldn't. Most ramped sights are plenty far enough foward so not to interfere with scopes.
#3... I much prefer an oil finsihed stock to a varnished stock. IMO a varnished stock just does not look like a hunting rifle. Too shiny for my tastes. Most varnishes tend to "yellow" over time also.
