WOW you guys know how to post some replies. DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET THROUGH 18 PAGES OF POSTS? An hour and a half!!

Now that I am on thd same page.
Hello, my name is Mark, 33 years old, married with two kids, 8 and 12.

I shoot an AR34, CX arrows, copper john sight, drop zone rest,

I like to shoot 3-D year around and did about 20 weeks of paper shooting this winter/spring.

I have a dodge too, and a chevy, and a ford!!

I like the double X team name (not that I have a choice) hehe
Fuzzy bunnies give me nightmares also!! hehe
I would be interested in the shirts and will pay for it.
I like the logo with the deer on it, and the names would be better on both sides.

Bought a buddy stand for my daughter and I to sit together for her first season today. Got the cheep one from walmart, and its allot nicer then I expected for the price.

We have to take first to get them cool rattlers. Take what you are happy with, every point will count for the win.
I will try to post some pics. but had trouble with getting them the right size last year. Maybe the next time I have a spare hour and a half to try to post a pic.
Well got to go, have to shoot some 3-D in the am.

Gotta keep posting, makes it seem like you are hanging out at the archery shop or something. Lots of posts, took me a while to go through them the first time too but I actually did it for almost every team up until I got assigned one... Luckily, I am a fast reader.

I kind of have a dilema when it comes to scouting the hunting areas (I have had this dilemma all year really) in that it is real hard to pattern the animals for October activity when all through the summer they are living in the corn fields. Once the corn fields get picked things get into that more normal patterns and I know those trails real well, and the small areas that groups of does and such tend to bed.Right now, I think I am going to try to set up along an in this finger of timber that stretches off the timber, into the corn leading towards a stream/ditch (It was a creek at one point until they channeled it for drainage purposes. The other option is to set up on an old fence line that runs out of the timber to that same ditch about 100 yards further to the east... Thank god for climbing stands I guess... The sign is at both places so it will be time to decide in about a week or two what I am going to do.

Went out spotting last night, seeing a lot of decent bucks in the area, but nothing where I'll be hunting. I think it's because the only cornfield in the area is over a hill from the road, and the deer are back in that area. I'm not worried, there are always shooters in this particular woodlot, and there's no way to really spotlight them. The first time I'll get a good look at the area's buckswill beon opening morning, hopefully.

I shot yesterday for 3 hours - pounding out to 50 yards. I shot every arrow about 5 times with broadhead, making sure they all shoot the same. They do.

Man, I've been on a college football bender. Friday night, I watched Arizona and Utah. I went to the Penn State game on Saturday, and watched Pitt lose later at the bar. Sunday, I watched more games and capped it off last night when I got to watch "the U" lose to Florida State on what else but a whiffed fg. September-December has gotta be the greatest time of the year.

Hey guys hope everyone had a good weekend. I was not in this contest last year was not a member yet but am having a blast so far this year. The season is getting closer and I am counting down by the second, or at least that is what it feels like. Still no one posting an offical score I know one was killed but still no score. I hope that shed has the first offical entry or someone else from our team.

My dove hunting didn't go very well either. I killed 10 on sat. but that was really slow. The day before my buddy limited out in one hour which is 15. I didn't get to go on friday and to many other people did so the birds just were not flying on sat.

My wife came in on Saturday and saw that I was watching some football games and she "congratulated" me on waiting until September to start watching games this year. I didn't have the heart to tell her that there were really only preseason games in August and I never watch those.. Oh well, brownie points for doing nothing, my kind of bonus.

I lied, I decided to check on the cam yesterday to make sure it was getting some activity... It was.. Not a lot but some include a little buck (it wasn't a big buck but it might have been a 1.5 year old 6 or 8. Maybe a 2.5 year old) but the angle of the phot hid most of his head. I could see the horn but for some reason his whole head was very out of focus... 6:30 in the morning the camera went off. Looks like the spot might work after all.. The corn around that plot will still be there opening day and probably for a while after... Might have to move closer to the edge of the field. There are a few good pine trees there that should work.

There's a small cornfield and some apple/pear treesin my back yard that havebeen getting some activity of late.

This morning, at daybreak, there were two bucks eating the pears off the ground. Both were Pennsylvania Shooters. One was only a six point, but he looked about 14-16" wide, and looked pretty nice. The other was a decent 15-17" eight with 2" brows. Nothing to brag about, but a shooter in my parts. I'll get a lot of time to go after them in the evenings after work.

I had seen the eight several times, but that six point was new. If I get a chance, I'd take the six over the eight. He has better mass and longer tines. I have a good stand location up there, and usually get a good look atmost of thebucks in the area, bow in hand. The problem is that they're usuallypretty scrubby.I liveadjacent to a major highway, and most of the deer get run over before they reach 3.5. The rut really takes its toll on them.

Hello Guys!

Things have been busy around here with hunting every evening the past 7 days and working.

I have been hunting two different locations andI willtry toaddress what as been under my stands and what hasn't. Its been nuts!

3 bull elk. all smaller bulls, a 3x4, a spike and a pretty darned decent 5x5 all passed by together at17 yards. I passed on them. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them for 30 minutes spar with each other 70 yards from me, then each of them tore up a few small tammarck trees. It was just awesome to watch. Then I cow called them all over right in front of me to get abetter look at them. Man were they tempting, but I want to hold out for now......I would like to harvesta mature bull 6x6 or better. Hey Rybo, want me to tie one of these younger bulls up for you? LOL

12 bucks from 1.5 year olds to 3.5 year oldsthus far in 7 days of hunting all in shooting distance, the biggest being a solid 135 net 5x5 (samegenetics and locationas my 138 and change buck from last year) He was hard to pass up but with the big bruisers in the area and this early in the season it wasn't to bad. I am committed to the big boys. Its been great watching all these bucks though. Some of which I have been able to watch at 5-40 yards for almost 1 hour just feeding. Man that is wicked just sitting there knowing they have no idea your around. I am hunting two very secluded clearcuts where these bucks feel safe. Even with the wind blowing to them, when they crossed my line of travel and downwind.... I have only had them stop, look around....then go back to feeding after a bit of wind checking. A few times I was worried but hit my soft doe grunt a few times and that seemed to settle them.

2 bears, one of which walked right under me Sunday evening.. A great lookingbear for this neck of the woods, not as big as my spring bear...but a 350lb fallbear I would estimate.I wanted to harvest him but decided not thinking it might mess up my whitetail hunt that evening.

13 does so far under my stands all in shooting distance most of which have all walked right under the stands.

I have not had one animal spook yet I have been very careful about my entry and exits. One evening I had to use my elk bugle and cow call to get out of my stand and sneak away from 5 feeding bucks! It worked awesome. I had sat in the dark for almost an hour waiting for these bucks to feed away, but they didn't so I tried the elk bugle and raked the tree I sat in, I could see the bucks out in the clearcut not hardly paying any attention to the elk sounds. So I just continued vocalizing with cow calls and bull chuckles out of my stand and as I snuck straight away from these bucks.

Hunting has just been awesome, getting tosee all these different critters. Ihave left my big bucks alone for 4 days now and moved a stand back in much closer to what I believe to be their bedding area. I will hunt it tonight for the first time. The big boys in thealfalfa area...and the majority of the deer have changed their food source from the alfalfa. We have had nothing but hot dry weather and the alfalfa is done. The deer are now just walking right through the field without eating it.

I will be hunting these bucks back in on a water source and a brushy ridge that leads to the water from a thick bedding area.

Ok thats my update. Man I just haven't had much time to get on here. I hope you guys are all doing well and I am sure from your above comments that you all are looking forward to the opening of your seasons! Its good to get in here and let ya all know I haven't fell out of my stand!

My brother did hunt with me all weekend and didnt experience as much action. I feel bad, I had animals everywhere and he had less show up. I tried everything because he wanted a nice 125-135 class buck... I switch him spots and on the nights he hunted my stands he saw less movement. It just works that way sometimes. He was giving me a hard time saying I was putting him in the "second rate" spots. I reminded him of all the big bucks he had under his stands lastyear over Labor Day weekendversus what I saw at mine last year.

The elk are starting to talk here pretty good and as of this week I will be hunting elk in the mornings(weekends only)and whitetails in the evenings every evening but Friday...unless of course a big ole bull is led by a cowby my evening whitetail spots. The ole bowtech is chompin' at the bit! As for that bear I probably should have taken that nice bear.. I may regret that... Oh well I have had a wonderful last 7 days of hunting!

I have to get those T-shirts lined out..sorry I havent touched that for a week, I will get on it this week.

Troy,

Sounds like you're having a good hunt, and getting a lot of action. I read that you have been having good luck controlling your scent. Tell me what you're doing for scent control (stand elevation, rubber boots, cover scent, anti-microbial, etc.)?

So I'm guessing that Idaho lets you buy aResidentarchery permit for Bull Elk, WT and Black Bears. What does it cost for a Resident license, and what additional tags did you buy?

On another note: I'm on the fence as far as this anti-microbial scent control goes. I really want to get a new set of that Under Armour Realtree Anti-Micro. stuff, but it's just so expensive. I'm already over-budget for this fall and I'm trying to save up for a car. If any of you guys get to trythis stuff, let me know.

I didn't do the bowhunting contest last year, but I killed a prettynice 110" nine point. I have no digital pics of that one. I scored well in this spring's turkey contest, with a double bearded eastern. That was my first Huntingnet contest submission.

Here are the pics of that - for your viewing pleasure.

Quick that is a nice looking bird. I hope your second contest goes as well as that one. It sounds like you are seeing some nice bucks. I don't get to go out and scout much in the mornings or evenings too much going on right now. I have to watch my daughter in the mornings while my wife is at school and I work in the evenings until midnight. I will be doing alot of scouting this weekend.

Shed sounds like the activity has picked up for you. I wish I was out hunting. I hope when you read this the big one will be in the back of your truck.

I was out shooting the bow today and am shooting pretty good can't wait to try it out in 23 days. Talk to you all later
