again I can argue that Teddy does more for hunting than you do.
Do me a favor tell me what he has done in the last ten years, that he hasn't made money off, to promote hunting.
Do me a favor and tell me what you've done.

Ted brings hundreds of kids to his place, on his time, at his expense to teach them about the outdoors, hunting and conservation every year. I doubt that anyone here can come close.
skb2706, you keep talking about how much he has done for the hunting community then you come up with one miniscule detail that doesn't even deal with the anti-hunting community. I'm sure your response is going to be, again, "well what have you done?" Right now, not much as I 'm still in college and the oppurtunity to change the world every day just doesn't present itsself too often. Uncle Ted, on the other hand, was a famous musician and was/is in a position to which people look to him as a roll model just because he is famous. Given such a position where he can affect so many people, we'll ask again, do us a favor and tell us what he's done, namely, what he has done free of profit.

Give him a little credit, he is the guy that wrote cat scratch fever and stranglehold. Think about it, Cat Scratch Fever is one of the best song's ever written, you know you like it. Stranglehold, great as well. Have you listened to the guitar in Great White Buffalo? He's amazing. Much more talented than any of us on here. As far as his hunting goes, not too much talent involved I'm afraid. He owns that ranch where he can walk right up on a deer and poke its eyes out if he wanted to. Any of us couldhunt where he does......well, some of us. I think some folks in here got more than a screw loose . Ted is a little extreme about guns and what not, but he's fun to watch. And I really dont care too much about the political game, if they take my guns or huntin rights away I'm tellin you its gonna be real life Rambo, no lie.....And I'm pretty sure there's a whole lot more people that feel this way, and the govt knows that. Rednecks are crazy, and here in alabama if they took our hunting rights away or guns away.......Hell on earth, we'd go nuts. Two gays can make love and raise a confused test tube kid, but I can't kill a deer??? Oh Lord it'd be complete chaos. As far as PETA and the anti-gun folks, haha, I'd love to see em come down here and try to make a statement. They'd tuck their tails and run back to California so fast. And this is just REALITY, I'm not tryin to be a harda@# cause anybody can talk smack with a gun in their hand, this is just what would really happen. Its the truth. I aint worried about a thing, I'll shoot my guns and hunt game animals legally til I die. If a man can marry a dadgum man, by God I can kill wild game animals. hmm....Maybe I'm a little extreme like Uncle Ted??? haha naaaah

Please provide the proof to this - especially the number of kids (100's a year or what time frame?) and what portion of the expense is covered by Ted personally (not donations to his foundation).

Yes, plus even if he does provide this from his own pocket he is probably using it as a charitable write-off somewhere which in turn saves him on taxes. In the long run this isn't costing him anything. Like most celebrities who associate their names with good causes, it is more for personal publicity and benefit than anything else.

Certainly everyone of us is responsible to show hunters in a positive light. The best that most of us could do is to respect landowners and others who utilize the same public lands that we might. This all starts with us not looking, acting or talking like barbarians. Nugent fails this test right from the get go. As far as good will is concerned, I surely think we should all show good will to each other and to those who don't hunt and even to those who don't like what we do. By doing this we are putting ourselves several notches above the typical anti-hunter who has little if any sense in their head. I DON'T see being critical of another hunter who we don't think represents the majority of hunters as being ill-willed. I don't buy this bull that we all need to stick together as hunters no matter what. If there are bad apples in the bunch, we need to get rid of them or point out how and why we think they are doing hunting more harm than good!

I really don't recall Ted acting like a "barbarian". He's a bit over-the-top with excitement/joy or whatever, at times, and he's certainly outspoken and colorful. But, I'd rather watch Ted being excited and rejoicing in the harvest of meat for his family than watching Stan Potts who, after the kill looks like he was viciously angry at his prey...

Is Nugent paying you to defend him here or something? What exactly does this camp do on a nationwide level to promote hunting to kids? This sure looks like nothing more than a local effort up in Michigan. They clearly state that they are a non-profit association that survive solely on donations from the public and businesses, so other than maybe help set it up, where is Nugent spending his own money to take kids hunting here? I also love the fact that Nugent idolizes and quotes Fred Bear all the time. In reality Nugent couldn't carry Bear's jockstrap in hunting skills or just about anything else.
