Luckily we are not left for you to decide what is half way decent (whatever that is) , intelligent or how someone looks.
You are right, it isn't up to me. It will be up to the non-hunters to decide the future of hunting in this country since we will never be in the majority. I can assure you that Nugent is doing NOTHING for the sport or our image in the eyes of non-hunters.
I agree with you on this point. I was recently reading an article that was promoting buying/eating local and was thus promoting things such as farming and hunting. The article was written by a non-hunter who believed hunting is essential in providing local food, which is a good point. HoWeVeR, in his pro-hunting article he stated something along the lines of, "now with hunting, we're not talking about the whack-em-and-stack-em Ted Nugent approach." Uncle Ted may do a lot to promote the anti anti-gun scene and he may be fun to watch, however, amongst the non hunting community, even those who promote hunting, he doesn't do too much for us

i was just wondering what everyone's feeling were about ted nugent, i love his show spirit of the wild but i also feel as if he has a screw loose sometimes. i would like to know how you feel about him as a hunter, a musician, anything. how would you compare him to other hunters you see on tv.
I would agree on the screw loose, but I love his various flavors of verbiage. He has all these ways of saying things that are very colorful, and I first saw that on SuperGroup. He does love his hunting, and I wonder if it's just because he loves to cook the meat.

As far as a musician, I saw him a while back. He wails on the guitar and is a madman on stage, but he's got derek doing all the singing, except where he pops in for a few lines of Stranglehold or something. I think it's more of an attention thing than anything. He seems to love his attention, and a friend of mine said she read that he actually stopped a guy out in the desert or something, who was pulled over on the side of the road, and accosted him for wearing a Ted Nugent T-shirt. Made him take it off claiming "copyright infringement." Don't know the truth to that one, but we're back to the loose screw again.

In SuperGroup he woke the guys up early one morning with loud guitar, and one of the other guy was angry about it. Ted referred to his waking hours as 'militant,' which I thought a little weird since he had gone and lived in the hills by himself to avoid the draft. That's hardly anything to do with the military.

Also he was a terrible husband and cheater for most of his career. Now he's settled down with a woman who apparently keeps him in line. That's not to say he's not a good dad; he very protective of his girls and seems to have a great relationship with them. I suspect most of their raising was done by mom though.

A little of Uncle Ted goes a long way. Not a fan of his music either. Sometimes, I think he's got more dollars than sense!

I for one could care less about what the "anti-hunters" think of us hunters. You will never change their mind. Now somebody that has no opinion, that may be a little different. I think Ted has the guts to say what most of us really think. As far as the the anti-hunters....they can Kiss My ASS.

Is this a joke? Instead of wanting to enlighten the anti-hunting community and present them with facts as to how hunters help everyone from vegetarians to omnivores you're going to plead arrogance and create the exact situation that gets hunters in trouble?

Couldn't agree more. If some of the animal right activists want to act like lunatics, why do hunters have to? We should strive to be better than them and act like normal people would expect one to act when presenting ones opinions or views. It really disturbs me that there are so many hunters out there who think Nugent is doing hunters a benefit. This tells me that there are way too many hunters who are either too immature to know the difference OR hunters as a group are simply as crazy as Nugent. If either is true than we really have no one to blame than ourselves for our bad reputations in my opinion, and it won't be getting better any time soon.

You're kidding yourself if you think you are doing more to promote hunting than Teddy.

I see old Ted as the Ann Coulter of the hunting world.. I agree with most of what he says.. Sometimes he can take it too far.. But liberalism and anti-hunting is a deases called RDS (Reasoning Definciency Syndrome) No matter how much you present them with the facts they will not be able to see the reasoning..

I dont think you will change their mind either, no matter how much proof you present to them as far as how hunting is benefical to the enviroment, and how hunters are the best conservationist. None of it will matter, to them all they see is us shooting innoscent little woodland critters. They simply dont beleive in killing animals, that is what hunting is. I dont think Ted Nugent makes them hate us any worse or less. As for most people on the fence, they probally have never seen his program.
