Frankly, I think it's a little ridiculous slamming the guy as hard as some here do. You might argue a bit about the manner of his presentation, but, the message is pretty solid.
Just like some of us find it ridiculous that there are so many hunters out there who think Nugent is a GOOD spokesman for hunting. From the various opinions here, he is obviously a polarizing figure amongst hunters, so for the life of me I can't see how non-hunters might take his message seriously. If a good many of us hunters are suspect of him, I am sure the general public is even more so, which to me does not make a good spokesman.

truce?

He is not my first choice as a spokesman. I am my own first choice. I do believe he tries to support us the way he can. Yes he probably makes money doing it but we can't eliminate or outcast everyone who makes money in the name of promoting shooting sports and hunting.

Actually you are wrong on this. Ted's first wife died in an auto accident soon after the divorce.I belive I heard that she got strung out on drugs after the divorce.By the way Ted had custody of the kids. He wasn't married again for a very long time. He did have a relationship with a woman for many many yearswho was pretty much a mom to his children. He did end up fathering a child with a woman he wasn't married too but he wasn't married when that happened. He has raised all his kids and I would say he did a pretty good job.

Ted is a performer, that's what he does for a living. No he isn't the best guitar player but he has the ability to write songs that have the so called "hook" that havemade them classics.
You can't tell me that he didn't get peoples attention when on tour with the Damn Yankees he would bring out his compound and shoot a target of Saddam while playing You Can Still Rock In America.I for one thought it was great!

Yeah he gets a little carried away sometimes. But I have seen far worst on other hunting shows that nobody says anything about.
My impression of Ted the few times I have spent with him was that I thought he was very down to earth. He just tells it like it is.

Ted Nugent Ordered To Pay Child Support
June 22, 2005 5:18 p.m. EST
Douglas Maher - All Headline News Staff Reporter
Dover, NH (AHN) - Rocker/hunter Ted Nugent is ordered to pay child support to a woman he had a brief affair with in 1995.
Nugent will $3,500.00 a month to Karen Gutowski, who is the mother of the now 10-year old boy.
According to the Foster's Daily Democrat Newspaper in New Hampshire, Nugent was originally served with papers regarding the lawsuit while playing a show with ZZ Top at the Meadowbrook Amphitheater.
Gutowski will have sole custodial rights to the child, but no visitation rights for Nugent have been ordered as of yet.
Oddly enough, on Nugent's own website, it states the guitarist was named "Father of The Year". He has been married to his wife, Shemane, since 1989. they have four children together.

Didn't know about this one. I don't agree with it but let's face it, Rock stars get a lot of you know what on the side. I'm sure his wife knew about his life style. But yeah it's pretty sad.

I agree that the anti's should kiss my backside, but what I worry about is the 70-80% of the population (heard that last week in aIBEP class)that hasn't decided to be pro or anti hunting.

I think we need to present ourselves in a positive light, and I don't know if Nuge does that for us or not. Some of the good things that he does get overshadowed and invalidated when he tells "Hillary and Obama to suck on this" (which I do agree with this statement).

As far as what I do for the hunting community, I work around people that don't hunt, and I try to project an image for our sport that is positive and not act like a lunatic. I have spoken with some people about hunting in a calm, reasoned manner backed with facts. It seems to be somewhat effective, I think. I just don't have mass media exposure.

If you would actually read the thread, you would see the reasons why many don't like a self promoting hypocrite.
