I agree with everybody, it's not an ethics question. It's illegal=it's wrong.
Anybody who would shoot any deer out of season damages our reputations as lawful hunters. I'm with GOTRES, I carry a cell phone in the woods all the time(turned off, of course) for 2 reasons: Emergency help and reporting poachers (yes, the DNR's # is actually in my phone). I want to make sure I can call them in to an authority so that I don't have to smack the idiot into next week by myself!

Keep 'em all in the Bull.

How about if it was five days before the buck season? This really did happen to me. And it was the biggest buck I've ever seen. I passed, then hunted that buck hard all season. Didn't get him. A VW bug did. Makes you wonder sometimes about your sanity.

i would hate to say it guys....but if i seena 14 pointer in doe season that boy would smack the ground after i shot it because that chance doesnt occur too often and around here u dont get caught doing stuff like that so it would have to get shot and get frozen til next year to mount...and yes i would be semi proud sorry but thats too big of a buck to pass up it would have to die!

Of course I would shoot it. With a camera! And I would cherish the memory as much as if I had pulled the trigger.

You know jhuck, you would have a better chance at that buck a month before the buck season opens. You should try hunting then.

Always let him walk. I love hunting and to screw it up by taking animal illegally. It's just not worth it to me.

Sounds like a good challenge for next year, maybe opening day of bow when he is relaxed and doesn't expect it. Wouldn't be worth the risk for me, I know I would get caught somehow. Besides my buddies would never let me live it down. And hunt I can't share with my buddies isn't worth doing.

I will admit, it would be hard though.

No brainer. Pass on the buck. It isn't worth it. I'd feel funny lying to my friends about how i got it.
