Default First Gar of the Season... A Monster!

Well, maybe not to us, but I'm sure that to a mouse, he'd be a proper nightmare!

Officially the smallest gar I've ever shot. If I were a taxidermist I'd make a keychain out of him...

Thinking on taking a cast-net next time and try to get one for my 30 gal aquarium. Let y'all know how that turns out...

Nice shot. Last time I went out I couldn't hit a fish it seemed but I shot a snake. I told them I just wanted a harder challenge.

Thanx for the kind words Jim, but I think luck probably had more to do with it. Oddly enough, tiny as he was, you could still hear that distinct 'crack' of a solid gar-hit... same as with a big-one.

I'm going after work to try and throw-net one for the fish tank at home. Everyone keepssaying, "He'll eat everything else in the aquarium!"

Don't care, Tiger-Barbs can be replaced for abt a buck-fifty each... but a key-chain gar... you just don't see those in a fish-tank every week.

Gonna' name him "Killer" and feed him small animals.

Might learn something about these popular stick-and-string targets too, while I'm at it.

With any luck, I'll be a-postin' some pics on the results of theexcursion tomorrow. Gonna' try andbring one back alive, for a change.

Regular bowfishing has been OK so far.Only bank fishing for now. Justtwo carp and two gar so far for the first two trips out...

Later!
