Deffinitly when the birds lock up and sail into the dekes, or that first light, or when my dog makes an awsome retrieve...Heck, I love it all!

RE: Best Goose Calling Instruction Tapes/Videos/DVDs?

Also, if you use a short reed call try Honker Talk by Shawn Stahl. It is pretty good and very easy to learn with.

RE: va-muzzleloader

Dang, you can find a place to hunt in Loudoun!? I am jealous! I have seen a few VERY nice bucks in the sod fields out by Ashburn (where I live). If a guy could get permission out there, he could get...

RE: Need help with scared dog

How old is the dog? I would ask the trainer if he force fetched the dog also. A dog that is properly FF' ed should have retrieved anything that you want it to. I would definitly go back to the...

RE: Training a dog for doves.

Tell him to be carfull when training with real birds, especially if it is hot! Dove feathers come out real easy and if the dog is panting hard he could suck a few of the feathers in and get turned...

RE: Hunting poll

Depends on what I am hunting...if it is birds the yes no-dog no-go, But if I was hunting big game then it had better be a pretty dang good hunt in order for me to not bring a tested gun that I have...

Call me crazy

I am new to this whole retriever thing... I would much rather be chasing hounds around the sierras after bigger better critters than sitting in a swamp shooting at ducks. Don' t get me wrong, I...

RE: Teaching the heel command

I would also get a pinch collar, they demand attention a lot better than a choke collar. Plus they will keep the dog from pulling when walking. To teach walking at heel, give the dog only enough...

RE: What kind of decoys?

I am cheap so I use flambeau, I figure that if the ducks are close enough to relize that the ducks in the water aren' t real then they are close enough to smoke over!
