RE: tracking systems
I have labs now, but before I joined the army I ran walkers in the sierra' s for bear. Johnson Telemetry makes good collars (16,000 hour) they run for about $100 add $15 for tree switches. For recievers it depends on how many dogs you want to track... I highly recomend the TRX 1000 from wildlife materials. This is the top of the line reciever and you can track any collar made so if you hunt with friends you can track their dogs too. This reciever runs about $770. It is WELL WORTH IT! Wildlife materials also makes a 16,000 hour collar that is a bit expensive but throws a much stronger signal than the Johnson collars. I have used or have been around people that have used all of these items and stand by all of them and will hopefully put my trust in them again once I get out of the Army and get some more real Dawgs!
Good luck and I hope this helped!
