Henry: Lets delve into this a little deeper. Does not 10 pt offer "trigger upgrades" from $30 something all the way to over $130??? Do they not suggest string and cable replacement every three years at a price over $60 ??? Did you not read Randy's post [aka 10pt] about the idiot that tore the stitches outta his finger from holding it above rail? Said stitches were aquired by holding fingers above rail 1st time. What good did forearm safety do this admittedly prime candidate for a Darwin Award?? To make matters worse, I just found a site where one can purchase a Phoenix for $379. Do you honestly believe that there is any Xbow out there that will out shoot a Vixen or Phoenix?? The last 4 years scores on USA IBO and European 3-D will put that to rest real quick. Now, I'm gonna argue your side of this debate for ya. Someone who doesn't gun hunt, doesn't bow hunt [in the past] can possibly derive great benefits from the safety features of a 10 pt Elite. One cannot beat them in that respect. Then, there is another aspect to consider. I don't see where one can buy a 10 pt w/o some kind of "package". There's guys like me and Dnk, Smoke,. lots of others that don't need "packages". Another little question; can we use our cheap rope cockers on 10 pts?? Their Acudraw 50 costs $80, and does the same as $19 rope cocker, just attatched to the bow. Comments please??

aint causing me no grief,, I chose a TenPoint , when I got mine was at tax refund time so the cost was not a deciding factor then,, so I got the crossbow I like best. not everyone can do that.. some have to go with what they can afford..
I would never fault anyone for their choice in crossbow..
Excal makes great Crossbows ,, I just dont think they are the only one that makes great crossbows..

Htoler: Good for you!! Soon as I can find a 10 pt w/ 3 1/2# trigger w/o a "package" I'm getting one for shooting deer outta a ground blind. They are one well-made impressive piece of machinery. The darn things are nearly a foot narrower than a recurve.

did Randy say the guy was shooting a tenpoint?? and I think the price its gonna cost to have a string replaced depends on where you take it .. my local proshop will do it for $10.00.. and all modles of tenpoints off the DFI only the Elite and ProElite off the gripsafty, and 31/2 pound trigger.. and check TenPoints site you can get several of their Crossbows without haveing to get a package deal.. several you can get bow only..

NO, You check 10 pts site!! The only bow offered there w/o "package is a form of Titan, w/ "5lb range" trigger. There are lot's of inconsistancies there, sooooo I've emailed them for clarification. You still need to tell us how a $515 Emax w/ only package available["Right Stuff"] at about $230 can total $1200. I, for one am waiting!!

not sure about the rope cocker but you can bet I will find out..

and I hope I never have to make a decision on which crossbow to get based on price.. I would rather save money and get what I wanted as opposed to settling for what I could afford, did that with my compound it was a good bow but I was never happy with, kept wishing I had saved and gotten the BowTech Tribute..

Henry, he's just pushing your buttons. Me and you have Ten Points, he does not. So what? He might have a Rementon, or Winchester, or Ruger. I got a Browning, you got a Weatherby? LOL J/K Different strokes for different folks. Now let's all play pretty.

You guys crack me up. I knew this thread would get wild.
I would like to do a quick comment session here to clear up some grey areas on this thread. TenPoints start at $399 in the slider model that has a 5 lb trigger in it. The bow shoots very well and is very light.
TenPoint offers several bows that do not come in a package. Slider, Titan and Elite.
In refference to the guy that shot the stiches out of his thumb, he did that the year we came out with the grip saftey, but his bow was the previous years version that DID NOT have one. I'm sure if you are dumb enough, you can do it with the grip safety as well, but it is difficult.
And as for the dry fire inhibitor, grip safety and auto engaging safety, they are a lot like electric windows on your car, you don't need them, but they sure are nice to have.
Guys have used the regular rope cocker on our bows and they just run it through the thumb hole. I have used both, but the Acu50 is nice because it automatically retracts and is always on the bow. You don't need to remember it, hang it around you neck or take the knots out of it.
Bottom line is, there are several good companies out there. Do your homework, shoot as many as you can and pick the one that fits your needs the most. Speed, $, draw mechanisms, safety, weight and comfort should all be factors.
For those of you that own TenPoints, we continually strive to make a better bow and a lot of the changes we make are because we listen to the customers.
Sorry that got so long.
Randy

Wow, I missed the action here. Lots of facts, a little emotion and lots of ribbing. DougK, I don't need a narrow bow so I have Excaliburs but I will, with out a doubt get a 10 Point so I can stalk through brush and shoot from my new mini pop up blind. If you care, I think the Excals are the perfect xbow for the KISS principle and the 10 Point is the best for hunting in tight quarters. The other manufacturers are good but not as good as the other two. Yes less maintenace in the Excals than the 10 Points but then who the hell wants to stalk with 747 wings? It stalking or hunting in tight quarters is your bag then the 10 Point is your Xbow. If you want to never see a bow shop(I don't mind) and want an awsome bow that is without question the most simple then go get an Excal. When you shoot bows from these two manufacturers you'll know which one but just think of how you like to hunt while shooting them. As for the you know who, you're being a pompus ass. Whoops, did I say that? Sorry, I meant it, unless I am wrong. Which wouldn't be the first time, in which case I appologize in advance. Dan and Mike, you both make me smile every time I see your screen names because you both make me think. Now where is that pet rodent?????
