slobs stole my deer at gunpoint
#32
I am sorry to hear that. I know what it feels like. My first year of hunting, I had that happen. I had just shot one of the most beautiful bucks I had ever seen. It was probablly a 130" 10 point. I WATCHED it run across a small field, across a road and drop right by a gas well. The man sitting on the gas well turned around and shot my deer which was already down. I went up and told him that it was my deer and he started complaining that he put it out. I told him that I watched it go down and then he shot it. He threatened to call the Game Commision on me, along with the cops. I was young and didn't know that it would have been a good thing for the game commision to be their so I went back to my stand and waited for my dad and grandfather to get there. When they arrived, I told them what happened and all Hell started. My dad and grandfather wanted to go break that guys neck. He stole my first deer. We went to the gass well and he was already gone. O well, about 45 minutes later I shot a nice little buck, but nothing compared to that ten point. I guess you will always have that in hunting, but I will personally guarentee that nobody will ever take a deer of mine again. If they try, they will be in for one hell of a fight.
Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

This has to be one of the most despicable acts, that ive had the oppertunity to read about on this board. It never ceases to amaze me, the depths that some people will sink to,These people were not hunters, just a piss poor example of humanity.Glad you didn't confront them, people have been shot for less by nitwits like these puke's!

In the situation you were in I would have probably left also. But, I would have high tailed it to the truck and tried to catch those guys at the other camp and get a license plate number. Then have someone run the number and findout where they live. Then catch the guy coming out of his house in the morning, pull up behind him and block him in and then get out with a 5 gallon can of gas. Pour gas light match and do the world a favor. WHA LA one less slob and a little message for the "would be" deer thieves.

this year my freind shot a 9*8 mule deer buck and it ran over the hill, well by the time he got to the deer there was a man and his oh, probley about 9 year old son said that it was his well me and my freind argued about it and finally the guy pulled his rifle on us and the surprising part is that his son pointed a pistol at us too!! they told us that we better leave before my son and i fill you full of lead! it was really scary cause i'm only 14 and my friend is only 15. so we hurry and left so the guy wouldn't shoot us. it was a 3 hour hike back to camp i told my dad and he decided they could of gone or been anyware in 3 hours so we just kept our eyes open but never seen them again!

Outrageous! Despite how badly I'm sure you wanted to "convince" them otherwise, common sense was certainly the better part of valor on your behalf...particularly if there was alcohol/drugs involved on their end. Hope the cops can land arrests so you can be there in court to testify and nail their worthless lives.

heres a thought
had you tagged the deer yet ? If not i believe the deer is considered property of the state...so they stole from the state... maybe a more serious charge
assault with a deadly weapon !
armed robbery from you and/or the state
public intox
trespassing
poaching - was rifle season in? they probly didnt tag it
littering - im quite sure they didnt carry their empty beers back to the club

that is totally discusting!!!!!!! until i found this board last year i would of never admagined this happening. i have read more than one of these stories here on this site this year. and to think i sometimes do not even start tracking for houres after the shot.
you did the right thing by backing down and i hope they get busted and the cop throws everything at them and i am sure the warden could find a few things to throw also.
sounded like it would of made a nice mount with the tines going the wrong way.

Sorry to hear about the loss...some people need to be eliminated from the gene pool...
A friend of mine that deer hunts at my camp had a similar thing happen with a 6 X 6 elk about 25 years ago. He shot the elk, it ran about 50 yards over a ridge and died. He started to gut it and he heard a noise behind him. Turning around, he saw a man with his rifle pointed right at him. The man asked him if he shot the elk...Bill said yes and the man said, "No you didn't". There were some words exchanged, and Bill finally left...heartbroken.
He said that he went high on the ridge about 300 yards away while the guy finished dressing the elk. He said he contimplated shooting him. He was a little tempermental in his younger years...and honestly I'm surprised he didn't. I agree that no animal is worth murder...but it makes you think.
Sad thing is that this was his only elk huntng trip ever...He did manage a spike the next day, though.

When i started hunting my dad told me to always pick up my gun when someone walks up on me and I have a deer.
My uncle had just got back from Nam and he and my Dad went hunting. Right off the road my Uncle shot a buck. They went looking for it and they split up. When my Dad got back to my Uncle there were 2 guys there. One was field dressing and the other had my Uncle at gun point. When my Dad yelled at them they ran off.
My uncle told my Dad that he couldnt believe he was held at gunpoint over a deer when he just spent a year in Nam getting shot at on a regular basis.
A bad day hunting is better than a good day at work!
