I am not an advocate for violence, but I am all for protecting myself and property. I never go into the woods bowhunting without a sidearm

That's what I don't agree with here in Alabama... It's illegal to possess both gun and bow while hunting here. I can understand a rifle, but I sure would feel better with myt Glock on me...I did carry it on some private land I hunted last year because of the feral dogs and coyotes

I feel for you buddy! I had a similer thing happen 15 or 16 years ago. I shot a small buck with a rifle, got my uncle to help track and walked up on a guy gutting my deer! he said tht his brother shot it earlier in the morning and he had just found it.Funny thing is the blood traid only led from my stand to the deer! He already tagged it and everything. Just not worth getting hurt over, but I realy couldn't and still don understand why someone would want to take anothers animal.

I hate to say it but I keep seeing more and more of these types of situations each year. I have witnessed three arguments this year so far.

Those guys deserve what is coming to them. I hope they all see jail time for pointing a weapon at another individual without cause.

Like others have said, I'd be careful going back out there again. No telling what someone of that calber is capable of.

I liked that "shooting up the deer" story. I bet that guy was a little shocked-would have loved to see his face.

Also, I might start carrying my business cards with me to shove in the deer's mouth-great idea. I had a game warden tell me if I was ever worried, to cut off a small piece of the deer's ear and put it in my pocket. I like the paper idea better.

I really don't understand why anyone would want to take a deer that they did not personally shoot ! Is it for the bragging rights ? I could not see bragging about something that I did not personally bag. If they were really that hard up for the meat, well, that's another story. Fastflight, I've seen your situation once before many years ago. A friend of mine got a deer, a group of us, 4, helped him trail it only to find another guy with its tag on it already. After a few heated words, my friend said OK you can have the dang deer and then proceeded to empty his rifle and 6 shooter into the dead deer. Viola !!! Swiss cheese !!!!!

That's an ugly situation, I hope that you're able to bring them to some kind of justice. By the way, congratulations on making a good shot. Keep us up on any developments.

What the hell is wrong with people? When they catch these idiots, they should loose their hunting privelages for LIFE. Thundermug, you did the right thing by leaving. I know that deer meant alot but it's not worth getting hurt or killed over. You were outnumbered plus they were drunk and stoned. Unreal!!!

No deer is worth shooting or getting shot over. I just don't understand these slobs. Last year on one of these sites someone mentioned that they always immediately make a small slit or two in the hide and forced a penny somewhere under the skin in a hidden place like behind the scent gland or behind the ear. That was his evidence if need be. Of course in this case the guy was already on the deer and that wouldn't work. tough break.... but crooks are crooks whether they're hunters or bank robbers.

WOW, I have heard of such a thing on a very rare occasion but all the stories here really shocked me. I am shocked to think of the balls or lack of - that some "sportsmen" have. Just shocked!

I gotta tell you there is not a deer in the world that is worth getting shot over or shooting someone else over. Now if there were no guns involved, there would be a serious brawl if someone tried to take my deer. But add in a gun or two and it just isn't worth it.

People like those mentioned will definitely get theirs in the end. I firmly believe it.

Let's all try to keep our composure out there and represent this sport of ours with pride, honor and respect for the game we hunt. (if that doesn't work then kick their a _ _!! )
