Do you all realize that S&W bought out TC 6 months a go? Even CVA has better customer service. I guess that's one of the reasons I was so disappointed when it turned out that Knights new gun turned out to be another short barrel over weight Bolt action, I have never understood what people want a bolt action for in a gun that has a breach plug. Oh well CVA has been steadily improving maybe they will come up with something besides acopy of somebody else's good gun. Lee

I do not think it is a short barreled new gun. It is based on the Disc Extreme - stainless steel only - 26/27" barrel.
And I guess should add I still prefer a solid one piece bolt action rifle to a break action unless it is a shotgun. I also prefer the thumbsafety to pulling back the hammer. I prefer the adjustable trigger to a trigger that can not be set without dissasembly and changing springs.
Knight went to the bolt for customer appeal otherwise they would still be using a simple pull back knob on the end of the plunger.

I'm sure that the buy out is part of the problem with T/C. When I spoke with Gayle from T/C she said they laid off 3 of the 7 people in customer service.
She was saying that they laid those people off even though the work load had gone up. that is what seemes to be affecting their customer serivce. I keep hearing "you expect your barrle to come back soon when they were off at x-mas" Not every body was off at x-mas at T/C, only the castings and repair was off. The people in customer service were there and the folks from shipping and receiving were there. The part that really upset me was when they told me on 3 different occasions that my barrel was there sitting on a pallet but no one had checked it in and that somene would be calling me the next day to let me know what was going on. I never got a phone call from them!
The end result is that T/C does not have the level of customer service they used to !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you stated that casting and repair was off that kinda answers why the delay. Even if people were there in customer service that doesn't mean that they were qualified to address a problem with a cracked barrel. I certainly would want a qualified tech to check the problem before just sending out a replacement that may have a defect.

I have always thought that 32 inches would be about the peak of efficiency, if they used the space the bolt occupies for barrel that is about what they would end up with; we did a considerable amount of experimenting back when we were building custom guns, it seems they are trying to save money by using the minimum necessary. I realize a lot of people like bolts that is a personal preference that they have a right to, I am just wishing Knight would make something I like as well as I like my Triumph. I am dismayed at what S&W is doing to TC, could be they are buying out the competition then eliminating them. Lee

they said this was best on velocity all of lengths.
they said 70 gr of 2f with 490 rb in 50 cal was best load as going higher means very little.
so, i guess thats why hawkins t/c has a 28 inch barrel.

bronko best thing I ever did 2 years agao was quit a 2 paqck a day habit. I will say I want one every day and when someone lights up near me, M-m-m-m! But I know one puff and I'm hooked again. I can stay out in the woods w/out my fingers and toes getting cold this year for the first time, i can smell the deer when hunting them, I was able to climb mountains again w/out looking like a busted muffler blowing smoke.I don't get ear aches, chest colds and haven't gotten real sick since I quit all just better. This was the turning year for me as a non smoker. Stay w/it it will only get better.
