I just got done planting a small plot in the woods and had a question about wind. Say the wind comes from the south you would want to be in a stand on the south end of the field so when the deer circle you will see them. Is that right im just not sure

You will have to figure out which way the wind usually blows that time of year or set up multiple stands. Where I hunt the winds come from the North North West most of the time in November.

You want to your position your stands where the wind is blowing away from where you think the deer are coming from. I wouldn't hunt the food plot as much as I would the trails leading in.
Look for staging areas where they group up before entering the field. Bigger bucks (at least in my areas) don't like to enter the plots until they're under the cover of darkness.

Yep, like texas said, hunt the trails and not the plot. It want take but one screw up or kill over the plot and your going to run off mature deer. Never let your scent blow toward the deer. Learning to hunt with the wind in your face is a big step in becoming a succesful deer hunter.

You want to be down wind. I personally prefer to hunt travel routes to food plots as opposed to actually hunting over them. My reasoning is if you spook game out of a food plot they will likely not return durring legal shooting hours. If you spook them on their way to the plot the will travel a diffrent route to get to the plot. If you pressure them at their final destination the gig is up and they'll be long gone. Just my $0.02
