You want to your position your stands where the wind is blowing away from where you think the deer are coming from. I wouldn't hunt the food plot as much as I would the trails leading in.
Look for staging areas where they group up before entering the field. Bigger bucks (at least in my areas) don't like to enter the plots until they're under the cover of darkness.
