You want to be down wind. I personally prefer to hunt travel routes to food plots as opposed to actually hunting over them. My reasoning is if you spook game out of a food plot they will likely not return durring legal shooting hours. If you spook them on their way to the plot the will travel a diffrent route to get to the plot. If you pressure them at their final destination the gig is up and they'll be long gone. Just my $0.02
