Seems to me you could sum the whole thread up with:
Being obnoxious about things helps no one. Its a relatively simple issue of geography and discretion. If you live in or near a large metropolitan area where people are a bit sheltered to that sort of thing, you should probably cover the carcass. If you live in Crystal Falls, MI... by all means, show-er-off. Everyone should have a good idea of whats normal and whats shocking in their area. Why be shocking, that's just bad for everyone. As was originally mentioned, there are alot of people who are normally indifferent to you and your activities. You do not want to make enemies of them, because numbers drive legislation and it may not be the kind you like.
And so: don't ever cook your deer on the hood of the family station wagon while behind a school bus full of children.
Pretty simple really... the common sense has just been lost in all the name-calling.

I too have thoughts about transporting deer in view of the general public. Not long ago, the state where I hunt the most, (WI) required you to transport the animal in full view until the animal was registered.
I am guilty of "showing off" some of my bucks as many of my fellow hunters are as well. Hunting in WI is a big part of the fall and MOST people don't mind the sight of a dead dear and MANY people actually enjoy seeing what the other guy got. I must admit however, I have changed my mind on the subject and now haul all my deer with the lid down and the endgate up. I don't look down on others who still haul with the endgate down, but times are a changin' and we as hunters must take the publics perception of us into consideration. I also wonder how good the venison is going to taste after a long trip tied to the rack of an ATV being hauled on a trailer for several hours!
We as a group must police ourselves to keep the anti-hunters from gaining ground. If it means being a little more humble and keeping the endgate up, then so be it.

I beleive your just as ignorant as the people you slander. It is one thing to
argue a point proffesionally, but its entirely differant to use name calling and stereotypes. I beleive that the mere fact that you would even mention that you have "taken" over 200 hundred deer, is in fact a form of "showing off" in its self. There is too much going on in the world today for people to get bent out of shape over the display of a dead deer.
I do agree that the congenial thing for hunters to do is keep the deer out of public view. I drive a suv and when i "take" or kill a deer, it goes on my "hitch carrier". I've had no negative complaints while transporting deer on the "hitch carrier". After reading your argument, i agree and next time i will take measures to keep the deer out of public view. I just think you can go about arguing your point without a fanatical approach. In fact, you sound about as fanatical as the "eco-nazi's" you addressed in our argument. So good luck "RA" and congrads on your 200 deer kills.

It's never going to die[:-][8D] I don't think I've ever seen a post with over 13,000 hits.
Display the deer however you want. Throw it over your shoulder, put it on a hitch behind an SUV, drive with the tailgate down, drive with the tailgate up, cover it with a tarp, ride a bike home with it draped over the handlebars.......................who cares. Anything to make this thread end by next New Years.

I am neither pro/against it, do what you have to do but be tasteful......I may stand up for it for one reason being that I think it should be our right, just as it is for pierced/tattooed freaks to have "the right" to sit in business meetings and offend me or walk around looking stupid, why cant hunters show off a buck???
Had to throw in my 2 cents, sorry guys!
