RE: Dead deer in public view???
I too have thoughts about transporting deer in view of the general public. Not long ago, the state where I hunt the most, (WI) required you to transport the animal in full view until the animal was registered.
I am guilty of "showing off" some of my bucks as many of my fellow hunters are as well. Hunting in WI is a big part of the fall and MOST people don't mind the sight of a dead dear and MANY people actually enjoy seeing what the other guy got. I must admit however, I have changed my mind on the subject and now haul all my deer with the lid down and the endgate up. I don't look down on others who still haul with the endgate down, but times are a changin' and we as hunters must take the publics perception of us into consideration. I also wonder how good the venison is going to taste after a long trip tied to the rack of an ATV being hauled on a trailer for several hours!
We as a group must police ourselves to keep the anti-hunters from gaining ground. If it means being a little more humble and keeping the endgate up, then so be it.
